The first two weeks of Shanghai May 5 Shopping Festival have gained fruitful results, providing confidence to the municipal government and retailers to advance the consumption campaign.

Over the two months, the festival will continuously launch more than 120 key municipal-level activities and 480 special activities, local media reported.

In the emerging consumption sector, some of China's most popular e-commerce platforms will launch series of activities. Pinduoduo, for instance, will launch online promotions of jewelry, makeup and clothing from May 20.

In the leisure sector, Shanghai's culture and tourism department will carry out special museum tours on May 18, International Museum Day. What's more, as May 19 is China Tourism Day, cultural and tourism enterprises and various scenic spots will launch a batch of high-quality cultural and tourism products.

In the brand sector, Shanghai's time-honored brands will gather at Yuyuan Garden May 22-June 18, providing a raft of food-tasting as well as parent-child activities.

In addition, the first Shanghai nightlife festival is being prepared and will be unveiled in June. By then a number of evening consumption activities will be launched.
