China announces five leading cities in developing int'l consumption centers

China's\r\n Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced on July 19 that with the approval \r\nof the State Council, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin and \r\nChongqing will take the lead in developing international consumption \r\ncenter cities.

The\r\n move is a major strategic decision made by the Communist Party of China\r\n Central Committee and the State Council, and will play a significant \r\nrole in serving the establishment of a new development paradigm, \r\nCommerce Minister Wang Wentao said at a meeting.

Efforts\r\n will be made to pool quality international market entities, goods and \r\nservices as well as accelerate the cultivation of local brands, Wang \r\nsaid.

The\r\n MOC will work with other related departments to unveil a general plan \r\non building the international consumption center cities and the five \r\ncities will formulate their implementation plans to advance the \r\nconstruction tasks, according to Wang.
