The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce organized a meeting, held on Aug 10, for local companies in the city of Shanghai in East China that are interested in investing in Germany.

Robert Herzner, representative of German Trade & Investment in China and Maximilian Butek, the chief representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Shanghai, gave detailed presentations on the policies, procedures and services for Shanghai companies to invest in Germany.

Zhu Yi, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, also attended the meeting.

She pointed out that Shanghai continued to expand its platforms for exchanges with foreign institutions in the city, to help local enterprises invest abroad in a steady and orderly manner.

She said that Germany was a global leader in research and development and intelligent manufacturing, while China had a huge market, a comprehensive industrial system and a rapidly developing internet economy.

Zhu added that Shanghai is currently working hard to advance its digital transformation, and the various industries in Shanghai and Germany are highly complementary – with there being huge potential and a foundation for economic, trade and investment between the two sides.

Representatives from Deloitte China and Shanghai companies that have invested in Germany, or are interested in investing in Germany, attended the meeting.
