Shanghai in East China plans to promote the construction of an "automobile quality consumption demonstration area or park" to provide consumers with a more secure and comfortable consumption experience, local media reported.

At present, automobile sales in Shanghai's Pudong, Minhang, Baoshan, Jing'an, Putuo, Jiading and Songjiang districts account for about 70 percent of the city's total.

According to officials from the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the selection of the automobile quality consumption demonstration area or park must take the degree of aggregation and richness of automobile brands into account.

At the same time, the demonstration area or park should promote the online sales of automobiles and improve the digital governance of other automobile-related industries.

In order to make quality a more important determiner of automobile sales, Shanghai has launched a pilot project for the online signing of automobile sales contracts at some of its automobile stores.
