The Pilecki, a multipurpose heavy lifting vessel with a dead weight of 62,000 metric tons, set sail for Morocco on May 8 from Luojing Wharf in Shanghai city in East China – loaded with 277 items of production equipment for COVID-19 vaccines, weighing 3,040 tons.

Since the start of the year, China has shipped batches of large-scale equipment to support major projects across the world, despite the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Shanghai's Luojing Wharf is located in the northern section of the Huangpu River, close to the Yangtze River. With its geographical advantages, the wharf shoulders the important task of exports of large made-in-China equipment to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Shanghai Wusong customs office in the Baoshan district, where the wharf is situated, has introduced fast-track channels for a seamless connection between logistics and customs clearances, to realize effective transportation from the port to various project operation sites.

According to officials, since the start of this year, Wusong customs has supervised over 3.38 million tons of imports and exports cargo.
