A government-enterprise roundtable meeting for auto manufacturers took place online in Shanghai in East China on June 2 – to resolve any difficulties they are having in deploying COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures and controls and in resuming their work and production.
Chaired by Zong Ming, the city's vice-mayor, it was the second government-enterprise roundtable meeting this year.
During the meeting, Gu Jun, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, gave a briefing on the city's policies for accelerating the recovery and revitalization of its economy.
Senior executives from Tesla, SAIC Volkswagen, General Motors, Ford, ZF and Faurecia participated in the online discussions.
Zong Ming expressed her gratitude to foreign automobile enterprises for their support, help, cooperation and understanding in the prevention and control of the epidemic and in Shanghai's return to work.
Zong said the auto industry was one of the pillar industries in Shanghai and the total output value of the sector accounted for 17.5 percent of the city's GDP. She hoped that auto firms would actively participate in Shanghai's economic revitalization.
