Pudong International Airport – located in Shanghai city in East China – is the world's third and China's largest air cargo hub.

Since Shanghai restored production and daily life on June 1, after three months quarantine and lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak, activity at the airport has returned to full throttle.

According to officials, even during the outbreak the airport did not stop operations.

Amid those challenging times, Shanghai opened a fast-track channel for key industries – including integrated circuits, biomedicines and automobile manufacturing – which played an important role in the city's industrial development.

The strong performance of the airport and Shanghai's preferential policies are widely said to have stabilized the confidence of local enterprises. After June 1, the cargo volume of Shanghai ports and the total value of foreign trade rose rapidly.

In June, the number of cross-border e-commerce export applications at Pudong airport reached 9.67 million, worth 2.41 billion yuan ($359.63 million).
