Zong Ming, vice-mayor of Shanghai city in East China, had a video meeting on July 13 with Tetsuro Homma, executive vice-president of Japanese electronics giant Panasonic.

Zong expressed her appreciation for the company's contribution to the economic and social development of Shanghai. She pointed out that despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 outbreak, the city was still one of the top choices for multinationals to expand their businesses in China.

The city would fully support Panasonic's further development in Shanghai, Zong added.

Homma said that Panasonic had always attached great importance to investment and development in Shanghai and as a result, the city was now home to several functional headquarters of the company.

He said his group was preparing to participate in the upcoming China International Import Expo in Shanghai in November.

Gu Jun, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, also participated in the online meeting.
