Shanghai vice-mayor talks with Amazon executive

Zong Ming, vice-mayor of Shanghai city in East China and Cindy Tai – head of global sales for the Asia region of global online corporate giant Amazon – had a video meeting on July 14.
Zong said during the meeting that Amazon was the world's largest online retailer by category and was the world's largest internet company. Zong congratulated Amazon on its achievements in expanding into the Chinese market and thanked the group for its understanding, support and cooperation in Shanghai's COVID-19 epidemic prevention and controls.
Since June, Shanghai has rolled out a range of policies to help its economic revitalization after the outbreak. As a result, the city is continuing to open up and optimize its commerce, she added.
Cindy Tai expressed her confidence about Amazon's continued development in Shanghai. She said that the company would enhance its communications and cooperation with the municipal government and leverage its resources to help with Shanghai's foreign trade.
Gu Jun, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce also attended the online meeting.
