Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce Deputy Director Zhu Yi congratulated the listed companies and thanked them for their outstanding contributions to Shanghai's deepening opening up and its economic and social development.

She said the foreign-funded economy was an important part of Shanghai's economic and social development. More than 60,000 foreign-funded enterprises had conducted vigorous investment and business development in Shanghai.

Zhu added that government departments would continue to give their full support to the development of foreign enterprises in Shanghai.

More than half of the 253 foreign-funded enterprises in Shanghai – that won awards in a recent 2022 FIE presentation event – are based in the Pudong New Area. Of those 123 are registered in the free trade zone, accounting for 89.78 percent of the total.

As to their origins, 70 companies are from the United States, 33 from Japan and 30 from Germany.

The top foreign-invested enterprises in Shanghai are said to amply show the supporting role of foreign-invested enterprises in Shanghai's economic development.

Moving forwards, plans are for Shanghai to continue to boost investment and promotion, further optimize its business environment and become a top destination for global investors.
