The International Biopharmaceutical Industry Week Shanghai 2023 kicked off in East China's Shanghai on Oct 16 and will run for five days.

It will coincide with a Central Asia-China high-end biopharma exhibition scheduled to take place in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan on Oct 20-24.

A delegation of medical and research experts from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and top representatives from the country's biopharma industry have come together in response to the needs of Central Asian nations.

According to Fan Xianqun – an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dean of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine – Shanghai boasts the country's most advanced medical and pharma healthcare resources.

Home to numerous leading domestic and international medical institutions and experts, Fan said it boasts a formidable medical technological capacity and significant innovation potential.

Meanwhile, Shanghai is regarded as being a vital hub for the domestic pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, possessing a complete industrial ecosystem and robust research and development capabilities.

This solid foundation is said to be pivotal in advancing medical technology innovation and industry upgrading.

This year, the International Biopharmaceutical Industry Week Shanghai 2023 is venturing to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan for the first time.

Its primary objective is to harness the expertise of Shanghai's medical professionals – to drive the expansion of domestic medical equipment, the biopharma industries and medical diagnostics in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

By doing so, it is expected to advance the biopharmaceutical sector, establish Shanghai as an international medical hub and develop a community with a shared future for mankind.
