Shanghai Pudong New Area provides more business opportunities for foreign capital

The signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation memorandum between Shanghai Pudong New Area government and Swire Coca-Cola Limited was held July 30, with the aim of creating new business opportunities for the new area.

In the first half of 2019, Pudong made full use of foreign investments, the headquarters economy and the implementation of more open projects, which all demonstrated a trend of "overall stability and quality".

Statistics show that from January to June this year, Pudong attracted $4.22 billion in foreign investment, a year-on-year increase of 4.1 percent, accounting for 43.3 percent of the city's total investment.

Multinational companies, including high-tech company Apple and well-known sporting goods retailer Decathlon, opened 11 new regional headquarters in Shanghai, accounting for 47.8 percent of the city's total of Multinational headquarters, large business headquarters.

Currently, there are 315 regional headquarters of multinational companies in Pudong. By June this year, 33 of the 54 expanded opening-up measures had been implemented, bringing the total number of enterprises settled in the area to 2,998.

In terms of the service industry, Pudong invited the first joint-stock foreign-invested company in China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and the first newly established foreign-controlled securities company in China.

Swire Coca-Cola is the beverage business of the Swire Group and one of the largest Coca-Cola bottling partners in the world, serving more than 700 million customers and employing 31,000 people worldwide.
