Shanghai launches food festival to boost culinary scene
East China's Shanghai is hosting an exquisite Haipai Food Festival to further revitalize its already outstanding culinary landscape.
The festival kicked off on July 30 at Suhewan MixC World, located next to Suzhou Creek in Jing'an district.
The initiative aims to boost consumer spending in the dining sector by integrating top restaurant brands and leveraging online and offline resources.
The event will highlight Shanghai's vibrant food culture and support the high-quality development of the city's restaurant industry.
Running from July to December, the festival features six major themed events:
1. Olympic Food Month: Special dining coupons and activities such as river cruises and food tours along Suzhou Creek and the Huangpu River.
2. Shanghai Summer Food Night: Thousands of "late-night canteens" are offering special meal packages and night-time discount coupons.
3. Must-Eat List Showcase: Top restaurants are offering new dishes and special menus with in-store discounts via QR codes.
4. Office Park Food Season: Lunch subsidies, exclusive discounts and special meal packages for office workers under the "10 Thousand Stores Rebate Plan".
5. Exhibition + Shanghai Classic Food Season: Exclusive business banquet packages during major exhibitions in the city.
6. CIIE Food Month: International cuisine weeks during China International Import Expo 2024.
The festival will also introduce dining subsidies, connecting nearly 100 top restaurants and over a thousand dining businesses. What's more, it will launch the Shanghai Gourmet Dining Vitality Index and the Savor Shanghai Food Map, reinforcing Shanghai's reputation as a culinary destination.
