Shanghai striding forwards as a smart city
In 2019, the index number indicating Shanghai's development as a "smart city" is 105.86, an increase of 0.73 percent compared with the previous year. The metropolis has now maintained this momentum of growth for six years.
In general, how well a city is comprehensively managed is an important indicator of its progress toward being a smart city. In keeping with the goal of "watching the world from one screen and managing the whole city from one website", Shanghai has planned and strengthened the connectivity of various urban operation systems, driving urban management toward "services to be accessed via one website".
"Services to be accessed via one website" is becoming a brand new motto by which Shanghai is improving its business environment. The city portal is now the home for all transactions. The total number of registered real-name users of the portal has exceeded 10.08 million, and the cumulative number of applications on the platform has exceeded 24.89 million.
In terms of the "open-data for the public" policy, which is supported by "services to be accessed via one website", a total of 2,100 public data sets have been opened to the public and a new Shanghai public data opening platform has been launched.
Lu Sen, deputy director of Shanghai Development Research Center of Economy and Information, said that the city's integrated management ability has been improved, the public's enthusiasm for participation has been enhanced, the quality of services-handling has been significantly improved, and management efficiency has continued to be demonstrated.
