A summit forum focusing on the development of the auto parts industry in the Yangtze River Delta region was held in Shanghai on Dec 3.
The forum was guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and organized by the Shanghai Auto Parts Trade Association.
In recent years, China's auto parts industry has developed rapidly. The Yangtze River Delta has become the largest auto parts industrial cluster in China, accounting for 28 percent of the total.
With the in-depth internationalization of the auto parts industry, the foreign trade scale of auto parts in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta has been increasing steadily, and the international competitiveness of products has been constantly improved.
However, with recent changes in the international economic and trade situation, the risks facing the auto parts industry and related enterprises in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta continue to increase.
It was because of the complex and changeable international trade situation that a cooperative and developmental alliance of auto parts businesses - with the aim of industry and enterprise cooperation - was set up during the forum.
In addition, a regional report on the development of the auto parts trade, and a report on the international competitiveness of the industry, were both released.
The forum attracted nearly 300 participants, including representatives from business associations in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, representatives from trade organizations in the United States and South Korea, and experts from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tongji University.
