In just six days, the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) attracted more than 500,000 domestic and overseas professional buyers, and the cumulative value of intention transactions for the next year reached $71.13 billion, an increase of 23 percent over the first session, according to official data.

Nearly 400 new products, technologies or services were launched, and more than 380 supporting activities were held during the expo.

Larger scale, better quality, stronger innovation, higher level, and better results are the common impressions of the second expo formed by exhibitors and buyers.

"From a global perspective, the expo has become more and more well-known and influential in the world, and the number of enterprises from all around the world participating in the second expo has increased significantly," said Li Jun, director of the international trade in services institute of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Li also mentioned that from China's perspective, the second CIIE has introduced a lot of new products, technologies and services, promoted the opening up and industrial upgrading in China, and effectively boosted domestic competition in related industries.

The success of the second CIIE has set a high starting point for the third one.

"To run the third expo successfully, we should gradually return to the nature of commercialization of expos and trade fairs," said Li, who believes that in the future, more commercial and market-oriented means should be adopted to attract exhibitors and purchasers to participate in the expo and to give full play to the CIIE's platform role.
