During the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) which ran in Shanghai from Nov 5 to 10, the Turkish pavilion showcased a huge hot-air balloon which quickly became an internet hit.

According to Gonca Yilmaz Batur, Turkish deputy minister of trade, who led a Turkish delegation to CIIE in 2019 for the second time, the Turkish companies were more engaged with the expo compared with their first visit, and hope to have in-depth communications with Chinese consumers.

The Turkish pavilion's exhibition area covered nearly 2,000 square meters this year, twice the size of the first edition. The delegation brought rich product varieties, including agricultural products, dried fruits, drinks, food, and many daily necessities, household appliances and medical equipment.

CIIE not only provides a huge stage for Turkey's competitive industries to be showcased in China, but also gives Turkish entrepreneurs the opportunity to have face-to-face exchanges with entrepreneurs from more than 100 countries and regions, Batur said.

She also mentioned that Turkey, with its excellent geographical location, young and educated population, experiences in exporting high quality products to Europe, preferential policies for foreign investment and convenient traffic conditions, is one of the best investment destinations for Chinese investors.
