Shanghai takes measures to ensure domestic services supply during Chinese Spring Festival
A press briefing regarding adequate domestic services supply during Chinese Spring Festival was held by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce on Jan 7.
Shanghai, a metropolis with more than 24 million permanent residents, has been dubbed the earliest aging city in China. The city’s municipal government attaches great importance to the strong need for domestic services.
In order to better solve shortages in domestic housekeeping services, and to properly balance nursery, maternal and infant caring demands, domestic enterprises and domestic associations have been readjusting their supply capacities since last September and October.
The increase in income during the holidays may not be the most attractive aspect of Spring Festival for the domestic workers, who have their own families to consider. On this basis, the Shanghai Pudong Domestic Service Association has launched a number of supporting services for them.
Take last year for example, when the "family reunion in Shanghai" service was launched. Domestic workers who took their families to Shanghai for the Chinese Spring Festival enjoyed preferential prices in the hotels they booked. More hotels in the downtown area have been added to the list this year.
