Nearly 300 large enterprises in Shanghai have launched industrial internet applications, forming 15 influential industrial internet platforms, which have enabled more than 60,000 small and medium-sized enterprises to access the cloud, according to data released at a conference on the innovation and development of industrial internet held in Shanghai recently.

The industrial internet is becoming an important support for the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has already planned the country's first industrial internet demonstration zone in the YRD region.

The development of manufacturing industry in the YRD region is facing urgent demand for digital transformation. The demonstration zone will help break down the administrative divisions and market barriers of the region and realize the gathering and sharing of resources in science and technology, talents, capital, land and other factors in the region, according to Li Ying, an inspector from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

To accelerate the construction of the demonstration zone, Shanghai and Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces signed an agreement during the conference to promote the construction of the YRD industrial internet integrated demonstration zone.

According to the agreement, the YRD region will play the leading role in industrial internet innovation and integration, helping build world-class advanced manufacturing clusters.
