Shanghai cooperates with Zunyi on poverty alleviation
Great achievements were made through Shanghai's long-term efforts to support Zunyi in north Guizhou province in 2019, and it is expected that the two locations will promote deeper cooperation on business, education, medical treatment, and tourism.
Additionally, Shanghai will cooperate with Zunyi to alleviate poverty through talent cultivation, high-quality industrial development, and skills training for the poor.
An agriculture products booth from Zunyi made its debut at a local food market in Shanghai in December.
Delicacies from Zunyi – a mountainous area known for chickens, vegetable, fruit and local distinctive seasonings – were on a "through train" for sale in the giant Chinese metropolis.
Local featured products from nine counties of Zunyi were given opportunities for exhibition and spot sale at the booth. Advertisements of Zunyi products were showcased on the screens of taxis in Shanghai.
A specially designed logistics channel from Zunyi to Shanghai guarantees that vegetables retain their freshness. Sales of bamboo shoots through the booth reached 30 million ($43,624).
Through adjustment of the whole industrial chain, such as seed selection, integration of water and fertilizer, processing and distribution and market sales, Shanghai enterprises can play their role in the rural industrial revolution in Zunyi and better support the production chain through long distance transportation.
Zunyi has also used Shanghai's training systems for domestic services and an elder-care system as a model.
Two hundred and forty-two trainees finished their courses after three phases of the training in Zunyi. Eighteen of them found employment in Shanghai as domestic services workers.
