According to data released by Shanghai government, in 2019, a total of 1,043 conferences and exhibitions were held in the city, with year-on-year growth of 1.07 percent. The total area of the activities was 19.42 million square meters, with a year-on-year growth of 3.31 percent.

Among these events, 310 were international exhibitions, with a year-on-year growth of 3.68 percent, and the exhibition area was 15 million sq m, with a year-on-year growth of 7.02 percent. A total of 496 domestic exhibitions were held last year, with a year-on-year growth of 6.21 percent, and an exhibition area of 2.72 million sq m, a year-on-year growth of 7.24 percent.

There were 45 exhibitions with exhibition areas over 100,000 sq m, among which six were over 300,000 sq m.
