Shanghai advanced manufacturing sector supports anti-epidemic front line
As more Shanghai enterprises gradually resume work this week, the city's manufacturing capacity will be further restored, enabling advanced manufacturing industries to provide stronger support for the front line of the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to officials.
The integrated circuit (IC) industry, as a representative of advanced manufacturing industries, continues to produce products 365 days a year.
Although affected by the COVID-19 epidemic during the recent Spring Festival, Shanghai Huahong Group and other Shanghai IC enterprises have been receiving orders as before, many of which are urgent orders from the front line of the anti-epidemic battle.
Under the difficulties of epidemic prevention and control, there are severe shortages of electric thermometers, and infrared imaging and temperature monitoring devices at crowded places such as airports and high-speed railway stations.
Hua Hong Semiconductor Ltd, a subsidiary of Huahong Group, recently received orders for core chips for these devices. The company immediately adjusted the production line to give priority to the production of those chips.
"It would take at least five weeks to complete the orders according to the normal production rate, but this time we will try to deliver the goods within three weeks," said a company official.
In addition to IC enterprises, companies in artificial intelligence (AI) in Shanghai have also joined the fight against the epidemic, providing high-end manufacturing and leading technology services.
YITU Tech, an AI enterprise in Shanghai, evaluated the epidemic situation and clinical demand, and quickly completed product development of a novel coronavirus pneumonia intelligent evaluation system. The first version was completed Jan 28 and was put online through the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center.
On Feb 4, the center confirmed the effectiveness of the system and recommended it be promoted nationwide.
