Shanghai launches anti-epidemic loan for sci-tech enterprises
Of the 12,861 high-tech enterprises in Shanghai, 90 percent have resumed work, according to a news conference on COVID-9 prevention and control held in Shanghai on March 6.
Among the enterprises that have restarted operations, the resumption rate of high-tech enterprises in the fields of biomedicine, integrated circuits and artificial intelligence is close to 100 percent.
Lu Min, chief engineer of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, said at the news conference that the commission and relevant departments have rolled out a raft of policies to support science and technology enterprises to resume production. These policies include further simplifying procedures, reducing the cost of innovation and entrepreneurship, and strengthening financial.
According to Peng Song, executive deputy director of the office, to promote Shanghai's development as a scientific and technological innovation center, to solve the problem of difficult financing and high costs for science and technology enterprises, the office has partnered with China Construction Bank Shanghai branch to provide a special quota of 10 billion yuan ($1.44 billion) to set up "scientific and technological innovation anti-epidemic loans".
Also, Shanghai is giving priority to patent examination of epidemic prevention products.
"We have received a number of applications for priority examination of patents related to medical protective clothing, respirators, infusion control devices and anti-infection devices," said Zhang Yongzhong, deputy director of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration.
