CIIE promotes trade and investment projects in China
At present, the effect of the 2019 Second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai is constantly expanding. Many exhibits have become commodities and are continuing to enter the Chinese market.
Meanwhile, various kinds of trade and investment projects are being implemented at a faster pace because of the success of the CIIE. Many of the 60 foreign-funded projects signed in Shanghai at the beginning of this year have participated in the first and second expos.
On Jan 10, German cookware-maker Stakunft and Shanghai Lujiazui authority in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone implemented the intended cooperation reached at the second expo. The company will build its Asia Pacific headquarters in Shanghai, establish a local market system and sales network in China, and encourage small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany to participate in the CIIE.
According to Stakunft's officials, due to the late registration of the first expo, the company only got a 18-square-meter booth, but the results of exhibited were unexpectedly strong, and this gave the company confidence to participate in the second session and applied for a much larger booth.
The company's order turnover reached 2.8 million yuan ($402,692) through the exhibition, and Stakunft reached intended cooperation agreements worth 5.2 million euros ($5.89 million) with many enterprises, such as Shanghai Bailian Group and Red Star Macalline Group.
Stakunft has already signed to participate in the third expo this year and has applied for a 180-sq-m booth.
Wei Hao, a professor of the department of international economics and trade at Beijing Normal University, said during an interview that holding the CIIE is part of a Chinese initiative to expand imports, and the expo will become a platform for China to carry out relevant institutional reform at the national level, which will promote more trade and investment projects to land in the Chinese market.
