A local resident surnamed Xie said that her spring life in 2020 started by taking a bite of a snack from Xinghualou, a renowned Shanghai bakery store.

A group of customers wanting to buy qingtuan, or sweet green rice balls, lined up at the door of Xinghualou's headquarters on March 25.

Zhi Jing, deputy general manager of Xinghualou, said that daily sales of new styles of qingtuan can reach 60,000. To her surprise, because of the epidemic outbreak this year, some Xinghualou products that went online saw increased sales.
