Time-honored restaurants apply digital platform to boost 'shopping in Shanghai'
Lvbolang Restaurant, a time-honored brand famous for local signature food, in Yuyuan Garden Mall, Shanghai, gave a live-stream show for foodies April 19.
The online host of the broadcast was Yu Guotao, a Chinese culinary master and sous chef at Lvbolang. At 5pm sharp, the sous chef began his first live-stream broadcast.
"Hello, I'm Yu Guotao, sous chef of Lvbolang. Today I'm going to teach you guys how to make two seasonal homemade dishes in Shanghai style."
"I got some experience in live-streaming by doing some interviews at work, and also I watched some web celebrity live shows and kept their styles in mind," Yu said after the online show.
Since March, "craftsmen" from Shanghai time-honored brand restaurants have become online hosts, stepping from the kitchen into the spotlight. When giving live-stream shows online, some spread old Chinese cuisine culture, and others promote products, both groups aiming to boost the "shopping in Shanghai" goal set by the city.
On April 17, Yuyuan Garden Mall cooperated with short video platform Kuaishou to set up a live-stream broadcast, and 13 time-honored brands in the region and a boutique shop held an online marketing activity. The participants such as Xinghualou, a Shanghai bakery, received many online orders during the show.
At the Yuyuan Garden Mall branch of Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant, a leading restaurant chain in Shanghai, You Yumin, a sixth generation inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, attracted a great number fans to her broadcast booth.
Yuyuan Garden Mall will also hold live-stream shows with different themes, as offline merchants go online to attract more young consumers and help to upgrade the whole business circle.
