In Shanghai, a vibrant and exciting city at night, many of the most popular bars and clubs are hard to miss, but the best way to find something to do after dark is still to consult a trusted Shanghai resident.

Although the full impact of the novel coronavirus on the city's nighttime economy, a nightlife festival will kick off in June to boost the local economy and boost consumer confidence, the city government said April 23.

Shanghai nightlife festival will focus on six nighttime-related sectors: catering, shopping, entertainment, road shows, reading, and profiling new images of fashion and sleepless Shanghai.

Additionally, there will be 10 subsidiary festivals such as a night bar festival, a nighttime shopping festival and nighttime museum tours.

The first Shanghai nightlife festival will jointly launch online publicity with a number of livestream platforms and other new media with large traffic patterns. The event will also release a nightlife festival emoji package, a nightlife map, attract consumers offline to participate in the activities and create an interesting festival atmosphere.

The Shanghai Commission of Commerce and nine other departments jointly introduced 10 measures last year to promote the development of the nighttime economy by appointing 15 nighttime mayors, 98 chief executives of nightlife districts and launching nine landmark nightlife clusters.
