Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone (phase I) has just passed the acceptance inspection by the Joint Inspection Group of the State Council, which includes eight ministries and commissions such as the General Administration of Customs. 

Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone has become the only special comprehensive bonded zone among 151 areas under special customs supervision in China.

The State Council approved the establishment of the special comprehensive bonded zone in January 2020, with a planned area of 25.3 square kilometers.

Phase I, which passed the acceptance inspection this time, includes the land of the former Yangshan Bonded Port area and phases I–IV of Yangshan Deepwater Port, covering an area of 14.27 sq km.

The former Yangshan Bonded Port area was established in 2005, and was the first bonded port area in China. In September 2013, it was incorporated into the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ). In August 2019, it was incorporated into the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) pilot FTZ. In January 2020, it was incorporated into Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

Construction of phase IV of Yangshan Deepwater Port Wharf started in December 2014 and was put into operation in December 2017. It is the world's largest automated wharf, with an annual passing capacity of four million TEUs (20-foot equivalent unit) in the initial stage and 6.3 million TEUs in the long term.

A leading group composed of all-level Shanghai municipal authorities such as Shanghai Commission of Commerce set up an integrated information platform for the acceptance inspection.

All construction tasks were completed with high quality and high standards, even during the epidemic period.
