The construction in Shanghai of the flagship store of Sam's Club, the high-end membership store of world retailing giant Walmart, started on May 28, and the store is expected to open in 2021.

Located in Waigaoqiao New Development Park, Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, the flagship outlet is a 30-minute drive from the center of Pudong New Area, and Wujiaochang and Xinjiangwan area.

The project only took about two months from signing to construction, which is a remarkable achievement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To ensure the opening time, Shanghai FTZ, Waigaoqiao and Sam's Club have established a three-in-one work promotion mechanism, with innovative examination and approval management models and service mechanisms.

The flagship outlet, covering 70,000 square meters and designed to be the largest single-floored outlet operated by Sam's Club in China, will become a shopping and entertainment destination, prioritizing item selection, shopping experience, and the design of the space and member service areas.
