Shanghai Commission of Commerce Director Hua Yuan met with Carlo D'Andrea, vice-president of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China on June 10.
D'Andrea brought the "European Business in China Business Confidence Survey 2020", and shared some of the survey's findings and suggestions.
Hua Yuan thanked the EU Chamber of Commerce in China for its efforts in promoting communication and cooperation between Shanghai and EU enterprises and responded to D'Andrea's suggestions.
Hua said that Shanghai will always remain open to the outside world and will continue to share the dividends of market development and provide better services for foreign-invested enterprises.
The third China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held from Nov 5 to 10 as scheduled. As the only import-themed expo in the world, CIIE will continue to open its doors to global investors and share development opportunities, Hua said.
Hua also mentioned that in the first five months of this year, Shanghai defied trends and attracted $8.45 billion of foreign investment, up 4.5 percent year-on-year. By the end of May, Shanghai had introduced 740 regional headquarters and 469 research and development centers run by multinational companies, indicating that Shanghai remains a hot destination for foreign investment.
