Shanghai Commission of Commerce convened the 2020 municipal mid-year commerce work conference on July 27.

Hua Yuan, director of Shanghai Commission of Commerce, summarized Shanghai's commerce work in the first half of the year. He said that following the decisions and deployment of the municipal Party committee and the city government, the commerce system responded to the complex and severe internal and external environment changes and the increasing downward economic pressure.

Consumption, imports and exports, and utilization of foreign capital all went against the trend in the second quarter, making positive contributions to promoting the steady and healthy development of Shanghai's economy, Hua said.

Hua also pointed out seven aspects of work that need to be implemented in the second half of the year: prevention and control of COVID-19, boosting consumption, stabilizing foreign trade, stabilizing foreign capital, improving people's livelihoods, holding a better China International Import Expo better than previous ones, and making plans.

Members of the leading group of the municipal commission of commerce, members in charge of the commercial departments of all districts, and people in charge of relevant departments and institutions of the commission attended the conference.
