Shanghai's first roundtable talks in 2021 on foreign investment cooperation between the municipal government and businesses – the special edition for European enterprises – was held on Jan 18.

Zong Ming, vice-mayor of Shanghai, told the meeting that the city in East China had always been a land full of investment opportunities.

"We hope that foreign enterprises can seize the development opportunities of the high-level reform and opening up of Shanghai's Pudong New Area and Shanghai's digital transformation, to expand and strengthen their global business together with Shanghai," Zong said.

At the meeting, the European Chamber of Commerce in China and eight European companies – Michelin, Sanofi, Nokia, ABB, Total, Roche Diagnostics, Philips and Deutsche Bank – raised 13 questions and suggestions on novel coronavirus epidemic prevention, business planning, medical insurance, product access and financial support.
