Fengxian continues to attract foreign investment

A conference to promote foreign investment in Fengxian New City in the city of Shanghai in East China was held on June 21.

Zhu Yi, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, discussed Shanghai's performance in foreign investment in the first five months of the year.

She said that during the period, paid-in foreign investment in Shanghai totaled $10.27 billion, an increase of 21.5 percent year-on-year.

Zhuang Mudi, Party secretary of Fengxian district, told attendees of the conference that Fengxian remains committed to opening up with solid measures to enhance its business environment.

In recent years, the beauty and healthcare industries have developed at a fast pace in Fengxian. The district plans to attract more large cosmetics companies to its Oriental Beauty Valley, which is set to become a world-class cosmetics and health industrial cluster in the region.

Currently, there are more than 3,600 foreign companies in Fengxian, contributing 40 percent of the region's output of industries above a designated size.

According to Yuan Quan, deputy Party secretary of the district, Fengxian will provide a favorable business environment for the introduction of foreign talent and investment.

A total of 270 consul generals and representatives from global investment promotion agencies, professional service agencies, and multinational companies attended the event.

More than 400,000 people watched the event online via live streaming platforms.
