German expat lauds Pudong's transformation over the decades
As someone who has lived in Shanghai for the past 32 years, Michael \r\nKruppe, the general manager of Shanghai New International Expo Centre, \r\nis most fascinated with the pace of the city's development.
Specifically, the German is astounded by how Pudong has been \r\ntransformed from a swampland to a bustling business district in just \r\nthree decades.
Kruppe made these remarks in a video which is part of the "Shanghai Through Our Eyes"\r\n series that was produced by Xinmin Evening News to commemorate the \r\n100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China this \r\nyear.
The Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government launched the series on April 8.
Kruppe first came to Shanghai in 1989, a time when the city's \r\nexhibition industry was still in its nascent stage. Today, however, he \r\npoints out that China has grown to become the world leader in terms of \r\nexhibition space. Shanghai alone, he pointed out, is home to 1 million \r\nsquare meters of such space.
"With the attitude of the Chinese here and government support, I'm \r\nvery sure that foreign companies know and can see that the market and \r\nChina is still growing. Government support, government ideas, and the \r\ncreativity of the Chinese people to develop new products and services \r\nwill definitely attract more foreign companies," he said.
