Agricultural Economy
In 2020, Shanghai's agricultural added value reached 10.36 billion yuan ($1.61 billion), down 8.2 percent from the previous year, calculated at comparable prices. Total agricultural output value reached 27.2 billion yuan, down 7.1 percent on the previous year.
The number of Shanghai's agricultural institutions and organizations grew during the period. By the end of 2020, 223 standard municipal-level vegetable gardens, 365 key leading enterprises in agricultural industrialization, 2,506 specialized farming cooperatives and 3,965 family farms recognized by agricultural authorities had been established in the city in East China.
The metropolis also vigorously developed its branded agricultural products. By the end of 2020, the number of green food enterprises in the city totaled 875 – with 1,573 products – and the certified output was 1.26 million tons. In addition, there were a total of 15 geographical indications conferred on agricultural products by the end of 2020.
