Shanghai's fourth government-enterprise roundtable meeting – for enterprises engaged in the foreign trading distribution business – was convened online by the city in East China on June 7, chaired by Vice-Mayor Zong Ming.
Its aim was to resolve difficulties being encountered by the city's foreign trading enterprises in the process of resuming their work and production and to boost their confidence to continue to develop themselves in the metropolis.
During the meeting, Gu Jun, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, gave a briefing on the city's policies for accelerating the recovery and revitalization of its economy.
Senior executives from Ikea Purchasing, Intel, SKF, HMG Supply Chain, EXEL and FTZ Logistics participated in the online discussions. They expressed their willingness to continue building a global and regional supply chain hub based in Shanghai.
Zong Ming said that in recent years the city's international trading distribution business has been developing rapidly. In 2021, the trade volume of the sector exceeded 1 trillion yuan ($149.86 billion), making it a strong force driving the development of Shanghai's overall foreign trade.
She called on the enterprises to maintain their confidence and take a proactive role in the city's economic revitalization.
