Shanghai holds roundtable meeting for UK enterprises
Shanghai's 10th government-enterprise roundtable meeting – for UK companies – convened online in East China's Shanghai on June 14 and was chaired by Vice-Mayor Zong Ming.
The meeting aimed to effectively resolve challenges faced by businesses that are in the process of resuming work and production after implementing COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures.
It also sought to increase the companies' faith in the city, encouraging them to invest and actively participate in its development.
During the meeting, Gu Jun, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, gave a briefing on the city's policies for accelerating the recovery and revitalization of its economy.
Senior executives from the China Britain Business Council and six UK groups – Smiths Interconnect, BP, Shell Group, AstraZeneca, Reckitt Benckiser and Dyson – participated in the online discussions.
Zong Ming said that UK was an important source of foreign investment to Shanghai, with a cumulative actual investment of more than $4 billion in the city. UK enterprises have become an important force in Shanghai's social and economic development.
Zong said that Shanghai was making every effort to bring production and life back to normal. She hoped UK groups would retain their confidence and take a proactive role in the city's economic revitalization.
