The Baoshan district of East China's Shanghai was recently busy showcasing its great investment opportunities to prospective investors, through the Baoshan District Foreign Investment Promotion Conference on March 30.

The event was held under the auspices of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and jointly organized by the Shanghai Foreign Investment Promotion Board and the Baoshan district commission of commerce.

Zhu Yi, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, was bullish about the district.

She told the conference that Baoshan, as an important area for the industrial transformation of Shanghai, had valuable development space and was also a key industrial base in the city.

Furthermore, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce would work with Baoshan district to fully leverage the advantages of the overseas offices of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Promotion Board and to assist Baoshan in building a global investment promotions network.

The latest statistics show that Baoshan is home to more than 2,000 foreign-funded enterprises, with foreign capital exceeding 1.5 billion yuan ($217.75 billion) and annual foreign trade topping 100 billion yuan.

The chief representatives of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Promotion Board in Los Angeles, London, Frankfurt and Osaka were at the event.

They expressed their support, to help Baoshan expand its international investment promotions network and to recruit more foreign-funded projects.

Meanwhile, 14 key projects with a total investment of more than 1 billion yuan were signed at the conference, covering such fields as biomedicines and intelligent manufacturing.
