The first 11-day Street Life Festival hosted by Xiaohongshu, or RED – a social media and e-commerce platform in China – concluded on the banks of the Huangpu River in East China's Shanghai on Aug 13.

The event was held with the support of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Shanghai Huangpu district government.

The festival comprised over 200 events and included 37 roads in Shanghai. Online participation exceeded 150,000 RED users, involving 400 brands and nearly 2,000 influencers – while on-site events attracted 200,000 residents and tourists, adding vibrancy to the Shanghai Summer Shopping Season.

The Corner Art Exhibition was clearly one of the highlights of the festival. It was held at the Expo I-Pavilion in central Shanghai's Huangpu district and showcased 99 photography works. Moreover, 33 poems dedicated to life, written by RED poetry influencers, were exhibited near Xintiandi – another hotspot in the district – and the photos and poem activities enjoyed a wave of popularity.

Besides exhibitions, the festival featured a Cooling Night Market with 15 specialty food vendors and vintage and trendy stores, which appealed to locals and tourists with its special offerings.

According to Liu Yan, project manager of the Street Life Festival, RED's pursuit of a good life will not stop even though the 11-day festival has come to an end.

Moving forwards, plans are for RED to develop the Street Life Festival as a representative of intellectual property, showing imagination and innovation in the interaction between RED, urban life and youth culture.
