A promotions event to introduce products from Southwest China's Yunnan province to East China's Shanghai was held in the city on Oct 30.

In recent years, the chambers of commerce in both regions have joined forces to combat poverty, support farmers and promote rural vitalization.

Since 2021, their collaborative efforts have given rise to the event, which has now become a driving force for local economic development.

This year's promotion featured nearly 300 companies from Yunnan, displaying over 200 distinctive highland agricultural products. In particular three Shanghai companies – including Yingjiu Agricultural Technology Development Co Ltd – signed procurement agreements with Yunnan suppliers, with a one-year sales target of 140 million yuan ($19.22 million).

In addition to the promotions event, the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce recently conducted a training program for cadres from Yunnan's national and provincial rural vitalization initiatives. About 60 of them came to Shanghai to participate in the training sessions.

Moreover, the city's chamber of commerce is preparing to lead privately-owned companies with industrial transfer agreements on a mission to Yunnan, to help foster project collaborations in the near future.
