According to Shanghai Customs, the positive impact of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement was evident in the growing economic collaboration between East China's Shanghai and Vietnam during the first 11 months of the year.

The total import and export value between the two regions reached 304.8 billion yuan ($42.71 billion), with modest year-on-year growth of 0.6 percent.

A noteworthy development is the export declaration of 205 vehicles by Shanghai Automotive Trade Co Ltd to Vietnam through Shanghai Pujiang Customs. Supported by an ASEAN Certificate of Origin, this move could result in a tariff reduction of around 830,000 yuan in the importing country.

In the past 11 months, Shanghai Customs has issued 32,000 certificates of origin for exports to Vietnam, involving export goods valued at 13.35 billion yuan. This marks increases of 17.6 percent and 2.4 percent compared with the previous year, highlighting the rise of Vietnam as the primary beneficiary among the jurisdictions of Shanghai Customs under the China-ASEAN Agreement.
