Shanghai reviews economic growth, innovation in 2023
The second session of the 16th Shanghai Municipal People's Congress opened on the morning of Jan 23 – with Mayor Gong Zheng delivering a report on the government work last year, highlighting the city's achievements in various sectors.
Last year, East China's Shanghai made significant strides in the development of its cross-border e-commerce pilot zone, implementing the trial importing of remanufactured products.
The city also established 116 demonstration enterprises for international trade distribution centers. In particular, the number of its certified Authorized Economic Operator, or AEO businesses, hit 517.
The Shanghai-China-Europe freight train operated 100 trains throughout the year, showcasing the city's commitment to international trade. Additionally, exports of innovative products – including electric passenger cars, lithium batteries and solar power cells – demonstrated substantial growth.
All these achievements are said to have really underscored Shanghai's dedication to fostering economic growth and innovation in various sectors, contributing to its position as a key player in international trade and commerce.
