Pudong's biggest commercial complex to debut in 2026
Prisma - an expansive commercial complex still under construction in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai - is set to make its grand debut in the district's Jinqiao area in 2026.
This was confirmed by the project's management recently, which said that it will cover a total floor space of nearly 360,000 square meters, set to become the largest of its kind in Pudong.
Prisma is a joint venture of Kerry Properties, leading institutional investors and is overseen by HZM Capital for its development and operations.
The construction of Prisma's commercial and office segments is currently in full swing, with expectations set for the project to complete its structural construction by the Chinese New Year in 2025, marking the comprehensive initiation of commercial leasing activities.
On completion, Prisma is seen as boosting the commercial landscape in Jinqiao, which is slated to become one of the four major consumer circles in Pudong - as outlined in a spatial development plan released by the district's authority in June 2023.
As projected in the 2035 master plan of the Pudong New Area, Jinqiao is slated to emerge as a key center in Shanghai's northeastern region.
The area has already transformed into a hub for intelligent manufacturing and innovative research and development over the past three decades.
As such, it embodies a model of integrated urban-industrial development, balanced living and working environments - as well as eco-friendly livability.
Currently, the area and its environs have experienced a surge in population and industrial activities.
There are now over 600 residential communities and 187 office buildings within a 5-kilometer radius of Prisma, accommodating over 2 million permanent residents and about 500,000 office workers.
Prisma also aims to cater to the neighboring Biyun and Sunland communities, which are said to represent the most dynamic international neighborhoods in Pudong.
The Biyun community, in particular, has attracted around 2,200 foreign residents from 52 countries and regions, representing nearly 20 percent of the community's permanent population.
Recently, Prisma unveiled its multifunctional exhibition hall - emphasizing technological mindfulness, green sustainability and integration and sharing.
This feature is said to provide visitors with a comprehensive introduction of the commercial complex - showcasing its commitment to innovation and sustainability in line with modern trends.
