As the countdown to the seventh China International Import Expo continues, Customs authorities in China have been diligently preparing for the event, set to take place from Nov 5 to 11 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

The latest developments were unveiled during a press conference at the State Council Information Office on Oct 14, shedding light on the meticulous planning and innovative initiatives shaping this year's expo.

Highlighting the seamless progress in customs clearance procedures, Lyu Daliang, spokesperson for the General Administration of Customs, said that since the successful clearance of the first CIIE exhibit—a cutting-edge electric three-wheeled concept vehicle—at the Shanghai port three weeks ago, customs authorities nationwide have swiftly processed customs clearance for a total of 18 exhibit batches.

The administration commenced preparations for the CIIE as early as April, leveraging past experiences to craft a comprehensive customs work plan tailored specifically for the seventh edition of the expo, Lyu continued. In a bid to enhance the diversity and inclusivity of the showcase, new initiatives have been introduced, including exemptions for plant and animal-based food products from the mandatory health or quarantine certificate requirements while still maintaining effective mitigation of disease transmission risks.

Moreover, to ensure a seamless experience for participating enterprises, the administration has extended full-process guidance and customized services, alongside upgrading and optimizing the "CIIE Customs Smart Exhibition" system. These enhancements aim to streamline the regulatory process for imported exhibits, promoting efficiency and expediency in customs procedures.

Anticipation is running high for this year's CIIE, which promises to deliver a fresh and innovative experience to attendees. The expo will feature an array of cutting-edge technologies and novel exhibits. From light-catalyzed coatings symbolizing advancements in materials science to intelligent road markings and inflatable-free tires designed for lunar exploration vehicles, the CIIE will serve as a platform for unveiling revolutionary products that push the boundaries of innovation.
