Organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the event supports the Ministry of Commerce's goals to boost consumption and revitalize the market, capitalizing on major shopping events such as the Double 11 promotional gala held every November, which was launched by Alibaba in 2009.

Prominent e-commerce platforms, including Meituan, Ele.me, JD.com and Dingdong Maicai, host dedicated Shanghai sections with special promotions. Shoppers can access local discounts on daily essentials, beauty products and seasonal goods.

Notably, Meituan will host themed sessions with coupons and limited-time deals, while Ele.me will offer over 500,000 exclusive coupons for Shanghai shoppers.

Dingdong Maicai and JD.com are highlighting culinary and family goods, offering deep discounts on selected items. Major chains such as Freshhippo and Bailian Group's iBailian platform are joining in with comprehensive digital and in-store offers covering food, cosmetics and home essentials.

The launch ceremony, attended by municipal officials and industry leaders, also featured a report from Fudan University's Big Data Laboratory of Consumer Market. It showed a robust performance of livestreaming commerce, with Shanghai leading in network retailing and online brand development.

The event will also host related promotions, including the Livestreaming Month and the Silk Road E-commerce Week. These are aimed at further supporting consumption in fashion, cultural tourism and local life, and driving Shanghai's economic and market revitalization through year-end shopping.
