Industry associations, including the China General Chamber of Commerce, introduced joint initiatives and measures to support the month-long event. Representatives from major shopping areas and businesses in cities – including Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou –announced special promotions and deals.

Consumption month is a key part of efforts to boost retail spending. It runs through November and focuses on four key areas: shopping, food, tourism, and performances.

In Shanghai, the emphasis will be on trends emerging from CIIE – taking place in the city from Nov 5 to 10 – along with global cuisine, exclusive deals, and unique city experiences.

Additionally, the city has introduced new policies and events to increase consumption, encouraging people to explore more of Shanghai's offerings.
